The ancient monk said: There are 13 situations where karmic creditors appear.

This is a record of my master's final words regarding the truth about karmic creditors.

Simply put: It is because of the evil within one's heart that one commits wrongdoings, accelerating the creation of karmic creditors and enemies, which ultimately manifests as retribution upon oneself.

What What are karmic creditors?

Debts we incurred in past lives or even earlier—such as monetary debts, emotional debts, karmic debts, and other forms of debt—arise from having sown negative causes. Consequently, in this lifetime, we must reap the bitter consequences.

Human interactions are bound by karmic ties—good deeds yield virtuous connections, while evil deeds breed harmful ones. In future reincarnations or subsequent worlds, we shall continue to meet again because of these karmic bonds.

Those who were kind to you in the past will bring you good fortune; Those who harmed others or harbored hatred and jealousy will have their karmic creditors come seeking repayment for debts owed. Reincarnation follows reincarnation, Revenge begets revenge, Endlessly repeating.

Those who have reincarnated to harm you are your karmic creditors. The animals you have consumed are also your karmic creditors!

Many people think I'm a good person, kind-hearted, and never harbored any ill will toward others. Why then do I have karmic creditors?

In truth, throughout countless eons, our three karmas—body, speech, and mind—have wrought innumerable evil deeds born of greed, hatred, and delusion, such as killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct. Thus, we have accumulated deep enmity with boundless sentient beings.

How do karmic creditors come about?

Every sip and bite we take in this life was predetermined in our past lives. Whether the consequences are bitter or sweet, we must taste them all in this lifetime. Below, the Old Buddha enumerates the mistakes you may have committed in your past life and explains how these karmic creditors and enemies came to be in your present existence.

  1. Anger breeds resentment; harsh words wound.
  2. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, one may offend the spirits.
  3. Settle old scores and debts, become family
  4. Harboring deep-seated resentment and bitter hatred
  5. Life for life, money for money.
  6. Disdain, loathing, jealousy, disgust
  7. Harm life, crave meat
  8. Selfish and self-serving, with more evil than good

Signs and Typical Manifestations of Karmic Creditors Demanding Repayment in This Lifetime

The natural law of cause and effect is an objective principle of the Way. Before this law, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and humans; animals, plants, and all things—all are equally treated without distinction. Hence the saying: "Bodhisattvas fear the cause, while ordinary people fear the effect."

Most people pay little heed to the myriad subtle signs and symptoms that precede the descent and unfolding of karmic retribution. They neglect it in times of peace, grow complacent before signs appear, treat it lightly when it becomes fragile, and remain numb when it's subtle. . These detrimental tendencies are common among people, including many practitioners. When one's merit and virtue become severely depleted, such passive responses to karmic creditors can easily lead to life-threatening crises.

The release of natural cause-and-effect laws, coupled with creditors seeking repayment and retribution, manifests warning signs within our bodies and surrounding karmic environments. Based on devotees' experiences, the Old Buddha has compiled thirteen aspects of these warning signs:

1. Nightmares that send shivers down your spine

Since karmic creditors are all negative-state information entities, people are most susceptible to sensing their activities during sleep. The information about their approach to the recipient's physical and mental magnetic fields is most easily received in dreams, which is why recipients often experience various nightmares. If one understands the principles of the I Ching, these dreams are not difficult to analyze in terms of which systems and causes correspond to the recipient.

Dreams often serve as the most crucial warning signs before negative karma manifests. By paying close attention to them, one can avoid missing opportunities and prevent misfortune, thereby neutralizing negative karma before it takes root.

2. Severing Good Karma

Before formally initiating retribution, karmic creditors often closely monitor the recipient's surrounding benevolent connections to prevent external interference or obstruction during the process. They strive to sever all potential external support networks and relationships that could aid the recipient. Any "benefactors" capable of helping the recipient resolve negative karma or overcome suffering are systematically isolated and blocked.

This includes the recipient's relatives, friends, fellow practitioners, teachers, and others. Severing the bond with the teacher disrupts the harmonious relationships that once existed between the recipient and their loved ones, friends, and fellow practitioners. This causes the recipient to lose all virtuous connections, leaving them isolated and helpless, forced to meekly submit to their retribution.

3. Sealing off blessings

People come into this world bearing both sins and blessings. Creditors have the right to seal off the blessings that the recipient has not yet exhausted, blocking their unfolding and application. Once this sealing of blessings takes effect, what was once highly responsive to Buddhist practice—where every request was answered and practice yielded immediate results—no longer responds. Even arduous cultivation proves futile.Karmic obstacles loom like towering mountains blocking the path forward, insurmountable.

In pursuit of wealth, one suffers great financial loss; In pursuit of status, one loses position without cause; In pursuit of career success, one faces repeated defeat; In pursuit of love, one endures repeated heartbreak; In pursuit of family harmony, one encounters endless conflict or even disintegration; For the spiritual practitioner, karmic forces interfere, Wiping out all merit gained through fasting and chanting.

The sealing of blessings can render one's affairs perpetually unlucky, with every endeavor meeting with disappointment. Ambitions remain unfulfilled, aspirations unattainable, and troubles become endless. Willpower wanes into despondency, while melancholy and pessimism sap all confidence—even making life seem worse than death. Those seeking retribution may either drive the recipient to the brink of suicide or completely dismantle their defenses of life and health, allowing the final reckoning and repayment to proceed effortlessly.

4. Prediction Failure

Before karmic retribution is released, if one employs various forms of divination—such as temple or shrine fortune-telling or psychic predictions—whether for oneself or others, the results are generally accurate as long as the process is conducted with sincerity. However, during the warning period, due to the primacy of the spiritual realm, karmic creditors will severely interfere and disrupt within the hidden spiritual field. Thus, whether seeking divination or predicting for others, outcomes will be entirely altered. Errors and inaccuracies become commonplace. Even psychics may experience loss of ability or failure.

5. Inverting the Mind's Nature

During the warning period, karmic creditors often exert subtle, insidious influence upon the recipient's soul and mind—the innate and acquired systems. This causes the recipient's mental state to become disordered, their personality to undergo abnormal changes, their perceptions to invert, their judgments to misalign, their thoughts to become extreme, and their moods to oscillate between hyperactivity and depression. Negative thinking and judgment intensify while positive awareness and correct understanding sharply diminish. In extreme cases, even their behavior and speech become bizarre and unsociable.

6. Flamboyant disposition

During the warning period, creditors of past grievances often act as Laozi revealed: "To gather it, one must first spread it out; to weaken it, one must first strengthen it." . However, the creditors' "stretching" and "strengthening" serve to amplify the recipient's negative traits, fueling and expanding the most stubborn aspects of their nature. They intensify and magnify otherwise inconspicuous bad habits. This rapidly weakens both the recipient's internal and external environments, paving the way for the creditors to thoroughly and effortlessly settle the score in the next phase.During this phase, the recipient's abnormal and unhealthy lifestyle habits gradually become pronounced and increasingly difficult to overcome. For instance, poor sleep patterns, dietary habits, and harmful addictions grow harder to change the more one tries. Behind these phenomena lies the creditors' support and obstruction, making it difficult to alter one's nature or break ingrained habits.

7. Health Decline

Before formally initiating full retribution, karmic creditors often first deplete the victim's vital energy during the warning period. For where vital energy flows, blood follows; when vital energy and blood harmonize, health prevails. When vital energy is depleted, blood stagnates and resistance plummets. As the victim's life force is gradually drained, they experience various states of health decline: mental exhaustion, depleted energy, inability to meet demands, easy fatigue, nervous exhaustion, insomnia with vivid dreams, and more. This may even manifest as unexplained ailments or strange conditions with symptoms but no identifiable diagnosis, sometimes persisting for years before finally developing into concrete symptoms and triggering the full retribution process.

8. Beat around the bush

During the warning period, karmic creditors often employ indirect methods to alert and warn those facing retribution. For instance, they frequently exert negative influences on the retribution recipient's most cherished relatives, issuing warnings through bizarre incidents, unexpected events, and sudden personality changes affecting these loved ones. In cases with extended warning periods, the entire family's fortune may experience a significant decline.

9. Light punishment serves as a warning.

Karmic creditors may initially employ minor punishments as warnings—serving as reminders, cautions, and declarations: "I am about to formally demand repayment of a significant debt!" Such minor punitive warnings often manifest as unexpected incidents affecting the recipient or their relatives, ranging from minor car accidents, unexplained falls resulting in scrapes or cuts, small blood-related mishaps, to property damage and other unforeseen events.

10. Rebellion and the Seizure of Will

Karmic creditors employ subtle energies to create adversity for those receiving retribution, undermining their confidence and resolve until their will is utterly crushed. The recipient may experience a series of major misfortunes in a short period, or face persistent setbacks. They may endure inexplicable external oppression, suffer unjust accusations, and endure deep humiliation. These blows severely damage their inner resolve, causing their will to collapse. Alternatively, pushed beyond endurance, they may lose self-control, making erroneous judgments, decisions, and actions—thus manifesting retribution.

11. Illuminating Adversity

During the warning period, the recipient's vital energy rapidly diminishes both physically and internally, while yin energy rises. This renders their mind and body susceptible to approaching the boundary of the Taiji string, enabling them to directly perceive the objective existence of negative-state space and capture certain scenes within it. Even those who steadfastly disbelieve under normal circumstances inevitably encounter strange occurrences once they enter this state of negative-state revelation.Occasionally, faint, elusive patterns may appear before their eyes: a three-dimensional figure or dark shadow of a person or animal caught out of the corner of their eye. These apparitions usually vanish in an instant. By the time they focus their attention to see clearly, it is already impossible. Some individuals may frequently feel as though someone or something is following them, as if an invisible pair of eyes is relentlessly watching. They might experience inexplicable chills in broad daylight or occasionally glimpse terrifying ghostly apparitions.

12. A Grave Crime Lies in the Smallest Signs

There's an old saying among the people: "Those blessed with good fortune often take medicine." This refers to individuals who frequently experience minor ailments and misfortunes, requiring regular medication, yet paradoxically lead remarkably smooth lives—free from the extreme hardships and calamities of major upheavals. Their karmic retribution manifests as frequent and relatively obvious warnings.Others, however, experience karmic retribution with little to no typical warning signs beforehand. It unfolds suddenly and rapidly, leaving the recipient unprepared. They may meet an untimely end or lose everything overnight.

The signs of grave sins are subtle—a common phenomenon in the cycle of karma. Yet the underlying mechanism behind these manifestations warrants profound attention. These faint, fleeting omens do not indicate a light or easily resolved retribution. On the contrary, they reveal sins that are difficult to atone for, signaling that karmic creditors and adversaries will not relent.

Among karmic creditors, there are three major categories:

The first category is relatively enlightened. They believe retribution follows natural law—debt must be repaid, life for life—as a matter of course. Seeking out the recipient of retribution is inevitable, yet they do not wish for endless cycles of vengeance, perpetually repeating without end.

The second category represents an intermediate state, where the goal of seeking retribution coexists with a desire for reconciliation;

The third category arises from the hatred of blood feuds, where the agony of suffering is etched into the soul. Resentment festers within, compelling the individual to seek vengeance and avenge the wrongs to release this pent-up anger. Such cases often stem from multiple injustices endured within the negative state space, having already secured a "decree of retribution" in the afterlife. Their emergence is frequently sudden, and they will not rest until their purpose is achieved.

13. Spiritual practice proves ineffective.

Practitioners should pay close attention to signs of karmic retribution. Generally speaking, when first beginning a practice method, if karmic forces have not yet unfolded, results will manifest relatively quickly. It works instantly; it proves effective upon practice. However, as one delves deeper, this phenomenon gradually fades. This situation is precisely the concrete manifestation of "karmic obstacles arising whenever one acts." If practitioners fail to awaken to and correctly address these signs and phenomena, they will develop discouragement and lose resolve—which aligns perfectly with the creditors' wishes.

Everyone inevitably has karmic creditors and enemies. Merely harboring thoughts creates karma, let alone actions like killing and eating meat. Karma accumulated in this life, past lives, and lives before that—unpaid karmic debts—can be demanded at any moment. The above 13 points are all real-life experiences of devotees of the Old Buddha.

How to Resolve Karmic Debts with Enemies and Creditors

1. Adopt a vegetarian diet and abstain from killing
Adopting a vegetarian diet marks the beginning of refraining from killing. This practice prevents the creation of new karmic creditors, avoids the spread of various illnesses and disasters, and establishes a new, healthy way of life.

2. Recite Sutras to Eliminate Karma
Daily recitation of the Earth Store Sutra, under the Buddha's blessings, liberates karmic creditors and ancestral relatives accumulated over countless lifetimes. Karmic obstacles gradually dissolve, leading to corresponding improvements in physical and mental well-being, family harmony, and career success.

3. Dharma Ceremonies
By participating in Buddhist Dharma assemblies and performing liberation rituals, one can genuinely eliminate deep-seated negative thoughts. Through the power of the Dharma Master, one gains the protection of celestial deities and Buddhas.

4. Releasing Life to Repay Debts
Releasing life repays karmic debts—the countless debts of killing accumulated over countless lifetimes. The swiftest way to repay these debts is through life release. Human suffering from illness, disasters, and adversity often stems from the karma of killing. Life release cultivates compassion and completely severs the habit of taking life.

5. Practicing Kindness and Accumulating Blessings
Each day, begin with thoughts of others—this is cultivating kindness through the mind. In daily speech and conduct, utter one beneficial word—this is cultivating kindness through speech. Through physical action, perform one act benefiting others or society, regardless of scale—this is cultivating kindness through the body. Over time, as body, speech, and mind gradually align with pure goodness, this becomes the virtuous roots and merit that sustain our journey to the Western Pure Land.

6. Attaining Buddhahood Through Buddha-Recitation
The purpose of cultivation is to attain Buddhahood. In daily life, keep the Buddha in mind, listen to the Buddha with your ears, chant the Buddha's name with your mouth, and even integrate the Buddha's name into your breath. Through this practice, cut off deluded thoughts, attain samadhi and wisdom, and be guided by the Three Saints of the Western Pure Land to Buddhahood at the earliest opportunity.

When performing these actions, remember to dedicate the merits to your karmic creditors, alleviating their suffering and dissolving their resentment toward you.

Appendix:
There are two ways to resolve karmic debts with adversaries:
The first relies on worldly good deeds—performing acts of kindness and accumulating virtue.
The second involves attending Dharma assemblies, listening to the Master's teachings, and receiving blessings through rituals performed by the Master to gain divine protection.
Both approaches complement each other and are most suitable.

The Buddha's "Soul Dharma Wheel Baptism Ritual" - The Most Effective Method to Resolve Karmic Debts with Past Enemies

If you encounter any of the above situations, Lao Fo Ye recommends our "Soul Dharma Wheel Baptism Ritual." Utilizing Lao Fo Ye's Buddhist teachings, this external assistance helps devotees entangled by karmic creditors swiftly overcome their difficulties. It purifies their magnetic fields, souls, and various karmic entanglements, dedicating the merits to all karmic creditors!

In the material world, we bathe when our bodies are dirty and wash our hands when they're soiled. But what about our souls? Our magnetic fields? The constant shifts in energy and fortune bring about transformations within us—especially when we harbor malicious thoughts and commit wrongdoings, inviting heavier karmic consequences that weigh us down until we can scarcely breathe.

The Soul Dharma Wheel Baptism Ritual, in plain terms, helps bathe our souls, purify our energy fields, resolve karmic entanglements, and dissolve negative influences. This makes it easier to attract more positive fortune and auspicious relationships.

Our baptismal ritual is a profound purification from the inside out. Many who experience it feel more cleansed, refreshed, and radiant than after a regular bath—a sensation akin to the deep relaxation following a spa treatment, an indescribable feeling.

If you're experiencing a short-term period where misfortune seems to follow one after another, with numerous setbacks and adversities plaguing you, the "Soul Dharma Wheel Purification Ritual" can provide a powerful resolution. This also indicates that the accumulated merit of the devotee is unable to effectively resolve karmic debts with past adversaries.

If you are persistently troubled by karmic creditors, the Old Buddha advises performing a "Soul Dharma Wheel Purification Ritual" at fixed intervals. Regularly dedicate the merits of this practice to your karmic creditors to dissolve their ill will and resentment.
